# Why generic AI SEO advice fails, and what measured GEO looks like

Ask an AI assistant how to get your site into AI answers and you get a confident list of tips. It rarely helps, because it knows nothing about your site. Useful GEO starts from what can be measured.

## Advice with no data behind it

"Write quality content", "build authority" and "optimise for AI search" never say which page to fix, or why. If a report could describe any website, it describes none.

## The technical foundation comes first

AI assistants can only cite what they can read: blocked AI crawlers, missing titles, missing structured data and content that only appears after scripts run are concrete, checkable problems.

## What we measure

Titles, descriptions, headings, canonicals, structured data, image alt text and language versions on every page, plus robots.txt rules for each AI crawler, llms.txt and the sitemap. Every finding in the Sitejump SEO & GEO report shows its evidence. A finding without evidence is left out.

## The AI visibility sample

Three realistic customer questions are asked of an AI assistant and we record whether the site was mentioned. It is a dated sample, not a ranking or a guarantee.

## Who gets recommended instead

Businesses named in the answers are listed. We visit their sites ourselves and note only what we can confirm, such as llms.txt or LocalBusiness structured data. We do not compare backlinks or traffic.
